STUDIO VISIT: New Works by Six Painters
September 13 - December 21, 2019
Studio Visit brings together a selection of new works by six notable painters working throughout the United States. Ranging from hard-edged to densely layered compositions, this exhibition showcases each artist’s unique approach to abstraction. Intimate 6 x 8 inch oil paintings share space with boldly colored, large-scale canvases, some of which span eight feet.

We are pleased to announce the opening of Rachel Hellmann’s Fold, Bend and Paint: New Paintings. This exhibition will run from September 6th - Oct 2nd. Opening reception is Sept 6th 6-8 pm.
Rachel Hellmann’s: Fold, Bend, and Paint focuses on two bodies of recent work, two-dimensional paintings on paper and three-dimensional relief paintings on poplar wood. The initial impact of the works is one of bold, bright colors carefully arranged in stunning geometric compositions. The lasting impact lies the discovery of complex intersections and delightful spaces created by the folding and bending of the wooden substrate and the brightly colored patterns that adorn these complex forms.
Twenty years ago I had Craig Martin for printmaking at the University of Dayton and only recently we reconnected. Craig is now host to Art Tap Podcast. In episode 89, I chat with him about what its been like returning to the midwest and making art in a small town in Indiana. Thanks so much to Craig for making the trek here and inviting me to chat with him about my work.
If you plan to be at the Dallas Art Fair, visit Galleri Urbane at Booth F16 (First Floor). They will have a couple of my new sculptural pieces on view alongside work by Heath West, Stephen D’Onofrio, Gail Peter Borden, Loring Taoka, Jason Willaford, Samantha McCurdy, Melinda Laszczynski and Benjamin Terry.
